The Wake Robin blooms profusely along the South Toe River where I make my home. It is a trillium with dark red blooms that are so striking it’s hard to hold anything but adoration for such a bold spring wildflower. Every May I walk the trail to the river looking for these beauties, waiting for them to bloom so I can greet them, sketch book in hand.
